Malaysia Drive (8th-13th May 2009)

For those who are familiar with Hong Kong will know that it is really a small place, and frankly, there are really not many places or ample opportunities readily available for owners to appreciate the full potential of their Porsches. Where world is the limit, PCHK has continuously organised interesting overseas driving events for its members. One such lovely driving trip has been visits to Singapore, Malaysia and/or Thailand.

2009 is the seventh year where PCHK helped its members ship their cars directly to South East Asia (Malaysia) to enjoy yet another such lovely road trip. A wide variety of 24 Porsches participated, including, the 997 GT3 RS, 997 Targa 4S, 996 GT2, 996 Turbo, 996 GT3 RS, 993 Carrera, Cayman S, and the Boxster S. After arriving in Kuala Lumpur (KL) on May 8, all 40 members were eager and excited for their holiday thrill to begin. A coach transferred participating drivers to the Sepang Circuit where all the Porsches had been unloaded, prepared and refuelled in advance. Several friends from Porsche Club Singapore also joined in this event and together they headed east and travelled through some very scenic road along the coast to reach the resort in Dungun. Members spent two relaxing evenings there enjoying resort facilities and savouring delicious local delicacies. Then, on May 10, they headed west and took a challenging and winding mountain road, yet breathtaking in view, up to another luxurious resort in Cameron Highlands. Some members lost no time in managing to play a round of golf soon after they arrived. Members then drove leisurely back to Kuala Lumpur on the fourth day. The last two days of driving were surely nothing but pure excitement — the chance to experience Porsche’s agility and astounding performance on the challenging Sepang F1 Circuit!!

Time went by like a flash when everyone was so intensely immersed in the driving experience. However, no matter how reluctant members were, they still had to bid farewell to catch the late flight back to Hong Kong in the evening of May 13.
